Sachin the GOD who is retiring!
Sachin – God says “God bye”
There are lots of testimonials about him and his achievements in the media by different personalities including cricketers – present and past.
There are also lots of list of what Sachin has not achieved in his career so far like: not scoring hundreds in both the innings, not scored high runs in one series, not scored 300 or 400 in one innings.
His humility, his passion, his never-ending drive to perform, his ability to manage fame, his continuous improvement traits, his smile like a child – make him all-time GREAT.
Sportsmen retire when they age as fitness is the issue. Politicians, Ministers, Advisors, Consultants, Advocates, Musicians, and Businessmen do not want to retire despite their age.
We are not allowing women of our house (wife, mother and mother-in-law) to retire even if they complain of their age.
As we age, we object too much, consult too long, adventure little, worry lot, complain lot, advise much, worry about the present and future generation, often lose fitness, lose memory and yet retain unwanted memory…!
People already talk about Sachin’s post-retirement before he is actually ‘retired’.
We do not plan our own life but worry about PM, President, Players and others and their age-problem.
Sachin is all time great without doubt and he is for sure one of the GODs of this country.
Let us just leave people to plan their LIFE in their own way and pace and the way they want.
Let us try to keep mum without trying to prove anything to anyone…!
It is about ME
Men of age object too much. Consult too long. Adventure little.
BUT their heritage, voyage, the way they manage, image without damage, vantage – beyond comparison..! It is difficult to describe the aged people’s life in one message and I have no such courage if you encourage.
People talk about self-actualization, self-hypnosis, self-esteem, self-control etc.
Here goes my self-analysis list:
- I keep advising anyone (without asking) like an expert in every subject
- I think I am cleaner, smarter & better than people around me
- I call people over phone and have long conversations without realizing the value of others’ valuable time.
- I get upset and angry very easily & quickly
- I hurt people with my sharp tongue and realize that only later
- I can spoil the party very easily without effort and get upset myself instantly
- If anyone lends ears, it is difficult for him to stop me talking unless he is smart enough
- I am restless if a job is assigned to me until it is complete
- I keep singing even if people around me murmur about it
List is incomplete.
My better-half and daughters (as sounding boards) are struggling hard to improve and enhance me.
One thing is clear – I am getting old. My habits, traits & behavioural pattern are older than my age.
Vital declaration: I am passionate enough to improve my erroneous zones.

Doing things right – with precision
Doing
things right – with precision
– Dr.Balasubramanian, Thought Leader and CEO,
www.visionunlimited.in
Like integrity, sincerity and involvement – doing things
right is a great quality. It comes only to a few. Doing things beautifully with
aesthetic sense goes together with precision.
Take the example of a good speaker or presenter; he
or she would plan the presentation or speech very well with a good preamble,
energizer, adding different new thoughts, anecdotes, smart little stories,
quotes, interesting little poems, right measure of humour with voice modulation
and proper body language to inspire the listener. And he would stop when people
start to think – he should have continued for a while. They add a great value
and experience to the listener. It is nothing but ‘precision’.
On the contrary, there are a few whom you would have
noticed that they do not plan much before the start of their speech and they
keep jumping from one topic to another without any connectivity and that too
with irritating body language, mannerism etc.
Let us take the example of a home maker who folds
the washed clothes – one may see and wonder how she does it almost like
ironing. We may also observe as to how they stack them back in the cup-boards.
To get a good tailor for us is a big boon. These
days many tailors do not stitch with consistent quality and fitting. They
always miss the specification mentioned by the customers and of course the date
as well.
Passports issued in our country some 15 – 20 years
back used to be hand-written and looking very shabby. Sometimes the letters may
disappear and the passport holder may get into trouble with the authorities in
the airport, whereas the ones being issued today are much better and well
printed.
Have you seen some women making chapattis… they are
never in a circular shape and most of them would be shapeless, torn etc. though
these women must be making chapattis for years. If you comment on them, they
would immediately ask : why unshaped chapattis won’t enter your throat or what?
In fact, they will not accept and appreciate that the chapattis look nice when
they are a perfect circle.
Let us now think of various Government documents
being issued wrongly, especially the name, initial, sex, date of birth, father’s
name wrong. In India, everyone knows that it is difficult to get them corrected
without an extra cost and enormous time.
Will anyone get ready for a surgery if someone tells
you that the Surgeon would perhaps do a fair job and there is no guarantee, if
someone tells you that the aircraft you are going to board has an untrained
pilot – will you get into the flight…? If someone declares that the Guru of a
Mutt is ‘somewhat a bachelor’ – can we adore him?
Therefore, irrespective of the field or profession, let
us admit that doing things right and having precision plays a major role.
Even a small hole in the ship can sink it sooner or
later…isn’t it?
