Risk-taking is the key in doing a business - whether small or big. Adaptability is the next key when it comes to growth. In our area i.e. West Mambalam - I am born and brought up here - I have seen that there are only four or five business people have shown remarkable progress. Now in the recent past the Gen Y is taking some risk in expanding or diversifying. Mr. Suresh Babu a young photographer who has his studio viz "Guhan Studios" - has now started "Nandhini Pazhamuthir Solai - modern outlet for vegetables and fruits - being jointly run by him and his wife. Without the desire to move forward, one cannot succeed. I see the fire, passion and drive in Suresh who has taken this new initiative by diversifying - apart from his studio - which is already expanded to as an exclusive frame/painting shop. Any Television program appears good only because of good Editing. There were some most popular and leading talk-shows a few years back - namely Naetru Indru Naalai by Writer Sivasankari, Arattai Arangam (both in Sun TV) by Visu sir for nearly 13 + years. These programs had an excellent Editor and his name is S.P.Rajaram. He has also done over 50 episodes in DD Pothigai on Swami Gnandanda apart from a few serials and other important documentaries. Many people may not see the title card after the program as the tendency is to switch channel after the program. Today he has his own AV unit in Ashok Nagar where he does lots of things on freelance basis. Apart from that he also collects funds for over 1000 youngsters who are learning Vedam in Vaeda Paadashala in TN.

Previous generation is just great

I was travelling by a cab and all vehicles stopped due to traffic jam. I just saw one bike - younger one at the back and an elderly gentleman in the front - riding the bike. His bike got switched off. The younger one asked the elder one "should I get down", "NO just be there" said the elder one. He immediately started the vehicle by a single kick. I smiled at the younger one and talked to him in gesture by showing "thumps up". The elder one quickly turned and looked at me to smile. I told him, " I am very proud of you sir". He simply smiled . The son said "He is always great". The vehicles started to move. I just took a snap of them. I only presume that they are "father and son". I appreciate the previous generation who are very healthy, courageous and fit. I admire their independence.
சேத்துப்பேட்டை அருகே ஒரு காரில் நான். திடீர் டிராபிக் ஜாம். வண்டிகள் நின்றன. என் கண்ணாடி அருகே ஒரு பைக். அதில் முதியவர் ஓட்டும் இடத்தில். ஒரு இளைஞர் பின் புறத்தில். அவர்கள் வண்டி நின்று போனது. "நான் இறங்கவா" - இது இளையவரின் குரல். "வேண்டாம் அப்படியே இரு" இது முதியவரின் குரல். ஒரே ஒரு உதை. வண்டி கிளம்பியது. நான் அந்த இளைஞரை பார்த்து கட்டை விரல் சைகை காட்டி புன்னகைத்தேன். அவரும் வாய் திறந்து சொன்னார், "இவர் எப்போவும் கிரேட்". பெரியவர் என்னைப் பார்த்துப் புன்னகைத்தார். வண்டிகள் கிளம்ப ஆரம்பித்தது. சட்டென ஒரு போட்டோ எடுத்தேன். நான் சொன்னேன் "உங்களைப் பார்த்து மிகப் பெருமைப் படுகிறேன்." வயதில் மூத்தவர்கள் பாராட்டுக்குரியவர்கள். நம்பிக்கையுடனும், ஆரோக்கியத்துடனும் இருக்கின்றனர். அவர்கள் தந்தை மகன் என்று உறுதியாக தெரியவில்லை...அது எனது எண்ணம். இருப்பினும் அந்த மூத்தவரை மனதார பாராட்டினேன். அவர் போன்றவர்களை பெரிதும் போற்றுகிறேன்.

Life is a great lesson

I know Sakthi for more than a decade. He is an auto driver in our street corner stand. Whenever I go in his vehicle, I used to tell him to give up his smoking and other bad habits. He would always agree with me but continued as usual. One day just 3 months back, one of the fellow-auto driver in the stand told me that Sakthi is admitted due to 'heart attach'. I was feeling bad about it. This guy never listened to me. I started to ask and find out about his welfare and his health with his colleagues. Today I went out in Sakthi's auto. During the travel, Sakthi  shared with me  that he has seen the end of life and now he is a changed man without any of his old bad habits. I wished him the best and told him that our life is the best teacher and it is God's blessings that he has been given another opportunity to continue his life with a new perception. I frankly asked him to grant me permission to share his photo in FB. Sakthi after a thought told me "you may ...please....let my life be a lesson to others".

சக்தியை எனக்கு ஒரு பத்து வருடமாக தெரியும். எங்கள் தெரு ஆட்டோ ஸ்டாண்டில் ஓட்டுனர். அவர் வண்டியில் போகும் போதெல்லாம் அவரது கெட்ட பழக்கங்களை விட்டு விடும்படி சொல்வதுண்டு. சரி சரி என்று சொல்லி அவர் செய்வதை தான் செய்து கொண்டிருந்தார். மூன்று மாதம் முன்பு அவரது சகாக்கள் என்னிடம் சக்திக்கு ஹார்ட் அட்டாக் காரணமாக ஆஸ்பத்திரியில் சேர்த்து இருப்பதாக கூறினர். மிகவும் வருத்தமாக இருந்தது. அவ்வப்போது சக்தி பற்றி விசாரிப்பது வழக்கம். இன்று நான் போக வேண்டிய இடத்திற்கு சக்தி வண்டியில் போனேன். போகும் வழியில் சக்தியே என்னிடம் பேசினார். "வாழ்வின் இறுதியை பார்த்து விட்டேன். இனி நான் மாறி விட்டேன். இப்போது நீங்கள் பார்ப்பது புதிய சக்தி." நான் சொன்னேன், "வாழ்க்கை தான் நமக்கு ஆசான்". புன்னகைத்த சக்திக்கு என் பாராட்டை வாழ்த்தை தெரிவித்து விட்டு கேட்டேன். "உன் போட்டோவை பேஸ்புக்கில் போடலாமா?". சக்தி சொன்னார், " போடுங்கள். என் அனுபவ பாடம் மற்றவருக்கு உதவட்டும்". எங்கெங்கு காணினும் (இருக்கும்) சக்தி(கள்) மாறட்டும்.

A young guy who just slogs for the family

In the present moment of inflation, it is difficult to manage the family if only one is earning. That single bread-winner cannot rely just on one salary. Recently I saw an young guy namely Arvind Babu who is having two young children - working with Hyundai show room from 8 to 9 pm in outskirts. He decides to supply 'drinking water' to houses as an agent in late evenings and on Sunday. He also does a bit of 'real estate broker's job'. Every minute is valuable for this guy. I know him for over 25 years. He is in a very responsible position in the office. His wife is a Teacher. He also has two daughters like me. He also has two brothers and two sisters like me. His mother's name is the same as mine. Lots of people talk about "work life balance". But it has to be practically learnt from real life examples. This person drops his wife, daughters to their destinations in the morning before he leaves for his office. Takes care of his parents. Supports his siblings from his college days without any murmur. Goes out almost every Sunday or Holiday with family to a temple or a divine place. Does service in a few temples. I have never seen him or heard him shouting or fighting. He is FULL of love and calmness. He remembers the special days of each person in our family and would surprise all with unique gifts. He would pray for all. Such a darling guy he is. He is large hearted. That is why he is named as Raja by his parents. கடந்த 25 ஆண்டுகளாக எனக்கு இவரைத் தெரியும். அரசு நிறுவனத்தில் முக்கிய பொறுப்பு. வீட்டில் மூத்தவன். இரு தங்கை இரு தம்பி - என்னைப் போலவே. இவர் தாயார் பெயரும் லக்ஷ்மி தான் - எங்கள் தாயார் பெயரைப் போல. வீடு அலுவலகம் சமூகம் ஆன்மீகம் எல்லாவற்றையும் சரியாக பாலன்ஸ் பண்ணுவது பற்றி வகுப்பெடுப்பது, அது பற்றி படிப்பது வேறு. ஆனால் அதன் படி வாழ்வது வேறு. இவர்  இரு மகள்கள். மனைவி மூவரையும்  அவர்கள் காலையில் செல்ல வேண்டிய இடத்திற்கு கொண்டு விட்டு வந்து விட்டு தானும் தனது அலுவலகத்திற்கு சரியாக செல்வது மிக கடினம். இதை செய்கிறார் இவர். அது மட்டுமா? வாரக் கடைசியில் குடும்பத்தோடு வெளியில் செல்வது, கும்பிட்டு வருவது, உடன் பிறந்தவர்க்கு, பெற்றோருக்கு உதவுவது எல்லாம் செய்கிறார். அது தவிர சில நேரம் கோவில் சென்று சேவை செய்கிறார். எப்போதும் புன்னகைக்கிறார். அதிர்ந்து பேசத் தெரியாது. தகராறு செய்யத் தெரியாது. இப்படி எல்லாமே கெட்ட (!) குணங்கள் இருக்கும் ஒருவருக்கு பெரிய மனசு. அதனால் தான் அவர் பெயர் ராஜா. எப்படி இவரால் இப்படி முடிகிறது. எங்கள் குடும்ப உறுப்பினர் அனைவரின் நல்ல தினங்களும் இவர் அறிவார். ஒரு பரிசோடு வந்து தான் வாழ்த்துவார். இன்று இவரைப் பாராட்டவில்லை நான். போற்றி வணங்குகிறேன்

Selfless sister - a bread winner - heart too.

After leaving her husband who was just responsible in producing two kids - both are daughters - did not do anything in the home front except drinking, abusing and agonizing Kalaiselvi (46 years), she is fighting her life out alone now for the past 18 years and she is the bread winner of her family.  She now lives with her mother who is a widow (aged 76). Kalaiselvi's first daughter (a graduate) is married and has a daughter. The second one has just finished her degree and just about to do her PG. When Kalai decided to fight her battle alone, she joined a hospital as Nursing assistant. After a few years she left her job and started to do the same service on a freelance basis. She goes to help a few patients during the day and stays in any one house to assist the ailing patient. This life has been chosen by herself. She is the one who is helping my mother - who is bedridden for the past 6 weeks - she has been staying with my mom in nights - after her nursing routine she leaves home in the early morning. I have never asked about her personal life till today. And now I feel very sad after hearing her sad story. குடிப்பதில் மட்டுமே கவனம் செலுத்தி குடும்பத்தை குப்பையில் போட்ட ஒரு மனிதன் இனி தனது வாழ்வில் வேண்டாம் என்ற கடினமான முடிவை எடுத்தார் 28 வயது ஆன கலைச்செல்வி. அப்போது அவருக்கு இரு பெண் குழந்தைகள். கணவன் எங்கோ கண் காணாத இடத்தில் உயிரோடு தான் இருக்கிறார். இருப்பினும் இரண்டு பெண்களையும் பட்டப் படிப்பு படிக்க வைத்து 76 வயதான தனது தாயாரையும் பார்த்துக் கொண்டு குடும்பத்திற்கு வருமானம் கொண்டு வருகிறார். அதுவும் பிறருக்கு அரிய, கடினமான சேவை செய்து...(படுத்துக் கொண்டிருக்கும் நோயாளிகளுக்கு பணிவிடை செய்து) ஒரு செவிலித்தாயாக, ஆயாவாக...! தனது பெரிய மகளுக்கு திருமணம் செய்து வைத்து - அவருக்கும் ஒரு பெண் குழந்தை உண்டு - அடுத்த பெண்ணை அன்போடு கவனித்து வருகிறார். பகல் நேரத்தில் பல இடங்களில் சென்று சேவை ஆற்றுகிறார். இரவில் மிகவும் சிரமப்படக்கூடிய ஒருவர் வீட்டில் சென்று தங்கி இரவு வேலை பார்க்கிறார். கடந்த ஆறு வாரங்களாக எனது தாயாருக்கு பணிவிடை செய்யும் இவரது சொந்த வாழ்க்கை பற்றி நான் கேட்டதில்லை. ஆனால் கேட்ட பின் கெட்டுப் போனது என் மனம். வெயில் தனை தாண்டிய புழுக்கம்  என் மனதில். அட இப்படி கூட வாழ்க்கை இருக்க முடியுமா? எப்படி எல்லாம் கஷ்டப்படுகிறார்கள் நம்பிக்கை தளராமல் - அதுவும் பிறர் துன்பம் போக்கி தன் துன்பம் பாராது சேவை செய்து....! இந்த சேவை சகோதரியின் எண் 9789079741. அழைத்துப் பாராட்டலாம். உதவிக்கு அழைக்கலாம். விரும்பினால் இவருக்கு ஏதாவது செய்து உதவலாம். இவர் போன்ற சேவைத் தாய்கள் வாழ்க.

A Government Employee with a difference - works with smile

The Public Distribution System (Ration Shop) only makes the Government very effective. Let it be One rupee rice or free rice or Pongal inaam or special salt promoted by the Government, it reaches the common man only through the Ration shop. Generally you will find the same crowded and with a big chaos. People pick up quarrels and fights at times due to impatience and various other reasons. The guys who work there generally are said to be very rude and unfriendly with the public apart from some doing wrong doings. The Government wanted to train some 1500 people in the city alone as a model to make them work effectively and with a smile. They were also expected to keep good rapport with the public - The same assignment was very successfully done by our Vision Unlimited Team. I know Mr. Palani for over one and half decades in our area - works in the Thambiah Road shop, I have always found him to be very kind, smiling and friendly. He immediately resolves people's issues. He would work with extra speed to clear a long queue. He has in fact attended my program as well. When I saw him today, he recalled that program after 6 or 7 years and he maintained the same lovely smile . I want to appreciate this rare guy who works without worries

(ஓரிருவர் தவறு செய்வதை நாம் மறக்க வேண்டும்). புன்னகை முகம் உடைய பழனிகள் நிறைய தேவை.

Dress always enhances the personality. Ready made clothes as such will not fit everyone though there is a brand, exclusive color and design. Many people though they are not of abnormal size by nature prefer a good tailor - especially women - for perfect fit, comfort and latest and customized design. Provision Stores can be found everywhere in every area. But hardly a few people take steps to improve and expand the business and change the ambiance. 'Risk Taking' is the greater ability one needs in business. 'Krishna Stores'  was started in the year 1974 in 7th Avenue Ashok Nagar, Chennai by Mr. V.Somasundaram. It has taken some 33 years for a change of strategy. The Y Gen Entrepreneur - his son S. Krishna (now 40) has taken the initiative of making the stores as a beautiful 'super market' matching to the recent trend from 400 sft to 1500 sft. He has computerized billing, CCTV control and appointed some 4 assistants. Had to go to the Chennai Airport this morning. Booked a Fast Track cab - up and down. The moment I got in - asked for the name of the driver who said he is Senthil. After some time I saw the bulging pouch in front of my seat - I could see 3 books. Two biographies (About Ambani and another Narayanamoorthy) and another book on Subconscious mind in Tamil. I immediately became curious. Asked whether any passenger left by mistake. He quickly said that it was all his books and he has already completed reading once. He is also attending a lots of Positive thinking and Law of Attraction workshop. He was in fact successful in buying a car after attending this workshop. The one particular workshop which he planned to attend - seems to be very expensive - something like 50K for the prog. and he is not able to go for that. He mentioned that if he attended that particular one - his life would change. On my return I came by the same car along with my aged aunt who came from Ahmedabad. Our talk continued. He curiously asked about me and my profession. He clarified some of his doubts. I told him " it is because of his strong belief that he could achieve" and not just by attending the said workshop alone. I appreciated his self-esteem and ability to overcome the limiting self-belief. Amazing experience. I appreciate this 39 years old driver. Of late I am able to see a lots of proof - that - we should not 'label' any individual. Drivers are like that. Auto fellows are like that. Who said so. I wish Senthil the best on his endeavor. வெளியூரிலிருந்து இன்று காலை விமானம் வழி வந்த என் மாமியை அழைத்து வர விமான நிலையம் சென்றேன் - கால் டாக்ஸி மூலம். ஏறி அமர்ந்ததும் டிரைவருடன் பேச்சு கொடுத்தேன். அவர் பெயர் செந்தில். வயது 39. இரண்டு பிள்ளைகள். பார்த்தால் நல்ல பழக்கம் உள்ளவர் போல் பட்டார். கண் முன் இருந்த சீட் பையில் மூன்று புத்தகம். இரண்டு அம்பானி மற்றும் நாராயணமூர்த்தி இருவரின் வெற்றி கதைகள். மற்றொன்று ஆழ் மனதின் சக்தி பற்றியது. யாராவது மறந்து வைத்துப் போய் விட்டார்களா எனக் கேட்டேன். இல்லை இவை என்னுடையவை. இது வரை ஒரு முறை படித்து முடித்து விட்டேன் என்றும் அவர் ஆழ் மனம் குறித்த பயிலரங்கங்கள் போவதாகவும் சொல்லி தனது நோட்ஸ் எடுத்த பாட் ஒன்றை காண்பித்தார். என்னைப் பற்றியும் என் பணி பற்றியும் கேட்டு முடிப்பதற்குள் விமான நிலையம் வந்து விட்டது. திரும்பி வரும் போது சம்பாஷனை தொடர்ந்தது. நெகடிவ் எண்ணங்கள் பற்றியும் பாட்டர்ன் மாற்றுவதை பற்றியும் சில பல சந்தேகங்கள் கேட்டார். தான் விஷுவலைசேஷன் பயிற்சி செய்து ஒரு கார் வாங்கிய விவரம் சொல்லி மகிழ்ந்தார். அட டிரைவர், ஆட்டோ ஓட்டுனர்கள் இப்படித் தான் எனும் நமது வழக்கமான எண்ணங்களை முறியடித்த செந்தில் எனும் அந்த இளைஞரை பாராட்டி விட்டு சின்ன டிப்ஸ் கொடுத்து வாழ்த்தி விட்டு இறங்கினேன். கையோடு ஒரு போட்டோவும் எடுத்தேன். அந்த நபரை இன்று பாராட்டி வாழ்த்துகிறேன். இவர் போல் நிறைய பேர் வர வேண்டும். சுபிட்சமான உலகம் உடனே நம்மை சுற்றி மாற வேண்டும். எல்லாம் இன்ப மயம். அவர் நம்பர் : 9543962114

Someone who fights with her life with lots of confidence

For obvious reasons - there is no photo or mention of name here.
She worked as a teacher. She used to run with enthusiasm every day morning. All her three children were married and well-settled. Her husband who consumes liquor on a daily basis in spite of a very respectable Govt job used to bring lots of embarrassment to her. Her father who was living with the family expired. Her lone younger sister suddenly expired due to heart attack leaving her family behind. She decided to rebuild her house into flats. When the flat was ready to be occupied the entire family entered the house with an ambulance van - her daughter-in-law expired due to cancer - a very young lady. Entire neighborhood was shaken up. Now for the past 9 or 10 months She herself is suffering from cancer...that too in the throat which has spread to the tongue. After surgery she lost her tongue. Her daily food now is only through tube. She has become very lean and dark, lost her charm, her hair etc. Today when I started to leave my daughter to catch her office bus - she looked at me and waived hands with a smile. I asked her through sign language about her welfare. She showed 'thums up' symbol to denote she is fine. I was very emotional to see her. I very sincerely appreciate her and pray for her peace of mind, harmony and speedy recovery if there is a way. Let HIM please guide her through 'happiness' path.
தினம் உற்சாகமாக காலையில் பள்ளிக்கூடம் ஓடி ஆசிரியர் வேலை பார்த்தார். ஓய்வு பெற்ற கணவர் தினம் மனம் ரணம் செய்வதைப் பொறுப்பார். கூடவே இருந்த தந்தை இழந்தார். கூடப் பிறந்த ஒரே தங்கை இழந்தார். தனது மூன்று பிள்ளைகளை படிக்க வைத்து திருமணம் செய்து வைத்தார். தனி வீட்டை பிளாட் ஆக மாற்ற முடிவெடுத்து அருமையாக கட்டினார். வீடு ரெடி ஆன அன்று ஆம்புலன்ஸ் வண்டியில் கான்செர் நோயினால் இறந்து போன தனது இளம் மருமகள் சடலத்தோடு வீடு நுழைந்தார். அக்கம் பக்கம் அதிர்ந்து போனது. இவர் பெயர் மற்றும் போட்டோ இங்கு போட வில்லை என்றாலும் - இந்த நிகழ்வு உண்மை. கடந்த 10 மாதமாக கான்செர் நோயினால் இவரே அவஸ்தை படுகிறார். மெலிந்து, கறுத்து, முடி கொட்டி இருக்கும் இவருக்கு தொண்டையில் தொடங்கி அண்மையில் ஆபரேஷன் செய்யப் பட்டு நாக்கை எடுத்து விட்டனர். ஆகாரம் குழாய் வழி தான். இன்று காலை என் மகளை பஸ் ஏற்றி விட கிளம்பும் போது சைகை மூலம் ஹலோ சொன்னார். நானும் எப்படி உள்ளீர்கள் என்று செய்கை காட்டினேன். அவர் பதிலுக்கு தம்ஸ் அப் செய்து காட்டினார். மனம் பிசைந்தது. வயிற்றுக்குள் ஏதோ சொல்ல முடியா வேதனை. அவரது அமைதி, ஆனந்தம், ஆரோக்கியம் எல்லாவற்றிற்கும் பதில் ஆண்டவனிடம் தான் உள்ளது. எனது பாராட்டு, பிரார்த்தனை, வாழ்த்துகள் அனைத்தும் உரித்தாக்குகிறேன்.

I am not sure if you have heard that someone is a volunteer in many forums for more than 4 decades. He can be seen when there is Seer's Darshan. You can see him when there is an Annadhanam. You can see him in all music concerts. Musicians render a great service by offering their excellent music - which is a treat to ears, soul and the mind, for some it is a medicine, for some it is their life. You may see organizers, compere, sabha secretaries, audio people, assistants during a music concert in temples or sabhas. But I have personally been seeing 'Dhaadi Shekar' - some call him 'Ice cream Shekar'. He must be 65 now. He is personally known to many musicians. Ok. What does he do? He would just do anything for the musician. Offer water, soda, milk, sometimes use handfans, pick up luggages for them, and for some musicians like M.Chandrasekaran uncle - who cannot see - would be guided to the stage or vehicle by this gentleman. He is doing all these on a self-less basis and on a voluntary basis. He also supplies food to very old people who have no one to help as a carrier by bicycle for a very nominal carrying fee - from the place where it is cooked. He can be seen with a big smile any time. He is lean. Also very clean. You may recall him when you see his photo below. You may even check about him with a top musician about him. In fact he has been serving right from Madurai Mani Iyer to the latest Abhishek or Janani etc. It is very rare to see such people in this digital era. A person who works with commitment, interest and passion. He is most sought after by middle and old aged ladies - especially who knows to make Aavakkai pickle out of Mango. People come from long distance also to buy from him. He is seldom seen free. He cuts mango into pieces with lots of nuances and in the best way the pickle has to result in. If it the mango is your own there is a charge of 6 to 8 rupees per mango. If you buy from him the cutting charges are free. He would do this job very accurately with precision as he has been doing this for over 5 decades or perhaps from his childhood. He does not want to reveal his native place. He does not know his age. but only his name - it is Rajagopal. I had to beg him to take a picture. He is very reserved. Speaks almost nil. But when it comes to his job - he is immaculate. You want to meet this guy - then you must - before the season gets over - he is there in a street corner near uduppi hotel on the Mambalam Station Road opp to a famous stationary shop. In the present era - many buy readymade things. But there are still a few who make with their own hands with the right recipe. This person helps you to make your best pickle at home. He hands over the cut mango pieces only after praying for you and your welfare. Rare things are available only at rare places. We need to spare time to search for it. I appreciate this old man today. பெயர் மட்டும் தான் தெரியும். வயது தெரியாது. ஊர் பற்றி சொல்ல விருப்பம் இல்லை. சோர்வு தெரியாது. உற்சாகம் தெரியும்..50 ஆண்டுகளுக்கும் மேல் இந்த பணியை செய்து வரும் இவருக்கு வாடிக்கையாளர்கள் அதிகம். போட்டோ எடுக்க எனக்கு சம்மதம் தரவே இல்லை. கெஞ்சிக் கூத்தாடி தான் எடுத்தேன். வக்கனையாய் சாப்பிடுவோர், அக்கறையாய் பரிமாறுவோர் இவர்களுக்கு பக்குவமாய் சில விஷயங்கள் தெரியாது. அதனால் இன்று கடவுளுக்கு படைக்க கூட கடையில் வாங்கி விடுகிறார்கள். இந்த ராஜகோபால் தாத்தா பல ஆண்டுகளாக மேற்கு  மாம்பலம் ஸ்டேஷன் சாலையில் உடுப்பி ஹோட்டல் அருகே ஒரு மூலையில் அமர்ந்து கொண்டு ஒரு விஷயம் செய்கிறார். இவர் சும்மா இருக்கும் நேரம் மிகக் குறைவு. இவரைத் தேடி பல இடங்களில் இருந்து வருகிறார்கள் - குறிப்பாக பெண்கள்....எதற்கு தெரியுமா? ஆவக்காய் ஊறுகாய் செய்ய  மாங்காய் வாங்கவும் அதனை பாங்காய் பக்குவமாய் கொட்டை ஓட்டோடு நறுக்கி வெட்டிச் செல்லவும் ....! அவரிடம் மாங்காய் வாங்கினால் வெட்டுக் கூலி கிடையாது. நம் வீட்டு மாங்காய் என்றால் ஒரு மாங்காய்க்கு 6 முதல் 8 ரூபாய் வரை வாங்குவார். கொடுக்கும் போது கடவுளை வேண்டி விட்டு தருவார். அந்த வீட்டு ஊறுகாய் ருசியாக சரியாக பக்குவமாக வர வேண்டும் என்று. என்ன இவரைப் பார்க்க தோன்றுகிறதா? மாங்காய் சீசன் முடிவதற்குள் போய் விடுங்கள்.

A Granny willing to serve always with a smile

 This is Pichamaal Patti (Sevai Arasi) who is above 70 by age. But well with in 40 as regards her activities and services. She has retired from State Govt - Education Dept - as Aanganwaadi Trainer (Paalwaadi Trainer). She writes, sings, tells stories. She just can't keep quiet. She calls personally and wishes more than 800 people in a year on their birthday and wedding days. She goes to orphanages such as New Life in Eraiyoor and Sevalaya in Thirumullaivoyil to train the children with rhymes and dance. She serves them food as well. She visits Corporation Schools periodically to motivate children - all on a voluntary basis. She finishes her domestic responsibilities in the morning including food/medicine arrangements for her aged husband. She has three sons - yet she lives her life free with her pension. Mr. Sivaraj, a young partner of a pharmacy - also has a Trust viz. New Sun Flower Trust for the past 7 years. He conducts medical camps and dental camps periodically in different areas envisaged to help poor and downtrodden. Conducting Drawing competition for Corporation school children, Kolam (rangoli) competition for women in the local area during December every year. He has donated blood more than 50 times. In his medical shop - every day in the morning - he charges only Rs. 10/- for Blood sugar test for senior citizen (instead of Rs. 30/-) between 6.30 and 8.30 am. He also arranges Nurse or Doctor on call as a service for house visits to help patients who are bed-ridden. He also offers medicines at special rate for kidney and cancer drugs. Change - it has to be brought by every person as a personal initiative. He also issues free evening newspapers to his customers till the stock gets over. This is Saroja Patti. She is the mother of 6 children. Her elder son died and other 5 are settled and living separately. Patti lives with her elder son's wife. She is now 78. She starts her work around 7 am in the morning. She goes door to door to sell Pappad and other home made products. She comes to our house periodically to sell her products. We always receive her with complete respect and some time my wife will offer her something to drink. Many a times we have wondered as to how at this age she is just on her own and works hard. There could be many like her. Yet I would like to appreciate this Patti today for her smiling nature. She does not do any gossip. She would never murmur about her poverty or her inability. Also she would not beg for a sale. The kind of self-esteem that she maintains at this age is amazing. I wish and pray that she comes out of her trouble at the earliest. அப்பளம் வடம் ஊறுகாய் வத்தல் இல்லாமல் சிலருக்கு சாப்பாடு இறங்காது. இப்போது இருக்கும் நிறைய பெண்களுக்கு அப்பளம் வடம் செய்ய தெரியாது. அல்லது செய்ய நேரம் இருப்பதில்லை. ஒரு பையை காலை 7 மணிக்கே தூக்கிக் கொண்டு கிளம்பிடும் இந்த சரோஜா பாட்டி தனது சுய கௌரவத்தை ஒரு நாளும் விட்டுத் தருவதில்லை. தனது சிக்கல்களை யாராவது கேட்டால் தவிர புலம்பி சொல்லுவதில்லை. வம்பு பேசுவதில்லை. வீடு வீடாக சென்று வியாபாரம் செய்யும் இவருக்கு வயது 78.  ஆறு குழந்தைகள் பெற்ற இவருடைய மூத்த மகன் இறந்து விட்டார். கணவர் 10 ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்பு இறந்து விட்டார். கணவனை இழந்த தனது மூத்த மருமகளுடன் வாழும் இவர் எங்கள் இல்லம் அவ்வப்போது வந்து அப்பளம் வடம் வியாபாரம் செய்வது உண்டு. இவரது கடின உழைப்பு, சார்பு இல்லா வாழ்வு, கடவுள் பக்தி, வம்பு பேசாதிருத்தல் அத்தனை குணங்களும் கண்டு நான் வியந்து போவதுண்டு. இவர் நோய் நொடி இல்லாமல் வாழ வேண்டும். இவரது கஷ்டங்கள் விரைவில் தீர வேண்டும்.
