India has the task of skilling 50 crores people by 2022
(according to the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, GOI) and according to the
National Council for Skill Development. What steps can be taken to meet this
agenda and the action plan could include the following.

People from the oppressed community, women,
persons with disabilities, tribal people are the main focus

Centre of Excellence (COEs) are to be enhanced
-
The syllabus of Diploma colleges/ITI s to be
updated
-
Incubators are to be set up in Institutions
-
Sensitization among the youth not to change
their main domain while taking up a job
-
Minimum of 12 skills to be given to Indian youth
in the School itself
-
Youngsters are not employable due to skill gaps –
to be addressed by enhanced training
-
People skills, patriotism, common objective to
take our country to the next level to be inculcated among the youth

Manufacturing sector to be strengthened
-
Industry – Institution to work very closely
together to identify technical resources needed to create them.

Machines/equipment/tools and gadgets to be
updated in institutions in par with the industry
-
Young talent to be encouraged by industry for
new innovation/design etc.

Faculty development prog to be focused to
empower teachers to meet this agenda
-
Young Entrepreneurs to be encouraged and the
start-up procedures to be simplified
-
Sanction of Bank loans/Mentoring to be done to
young entrepreneurs
-
Agriculture must be strengthened by new
technology
-
Focus on ‘non-conventional energy’ is to focused
simultaneously
-
R & D in industries to include people from
Institutions
-
Innovation, new technology, new thinking of the
industry to be updated by the Institutions by close networking (alumnus could
help in this mission)
-
Frequent guest lectures/seminars to be arranged
at the national level and relevant information to be published in magazines/net
etc. for people to be aware.
