Why
I call Dhoni ( MS) as a great leader?

Dhoni, first of all, is a youth icon, cool in
pressure situations, a self-made man and well-organized – which everyone is
aware.
Look at the time he came into captain the team
INDIA, when people were very unhappy disappointed with the team then, fans were
angry, there were protests against Team India and change was the demand.
Dhoni possessed the typical and ideal
characteristics of an excellent leader viz. Dominance, High energy, Integrity,
Intelligence and Stability. To top it
all, he was fresh in his ideas as he had never captained any domestic side even
before. He always was setting challenging objectives for himself and enjoyed
working with people. His unique approach in contrary to the prior captains and
leaders of the Indian Side, he was listening to others, working with the team
and the management, he encouraged participation, wanting to give opportunity to
youngsters ( remember Joginder Sharma who bowled the last over of World
Championship match final match – final over against Pakistan), and finally he
respected each and every member in the team.
He won World T20 2007, Test Team of the year
2010-2011, ODI World Cup 2011, India whitewash Australia in a test series and
now in 2016 a clean white wash in the T20 against Australia in Australia. He
also won IPL – Chennai Super Kings twice and winner of Champions League T20 in
2011.
There are lots of lessons to learn from him
according to me – isolate yourself at critical times, calmness and patience to
be cultivated to tackle any tough situation, provide opportunity to the
Non-Stars to showcase their talent on the big stage, live the moment, being a
coach himself to young people and having self-belief, take guidance from anyone
even if the person has no title or position.
Especially,
now can anyone imagine the pressures that he is undergoing – his favorite team
CSK is not there in the current IPL and he has to work with a new team PUNE and
the new management, next is he was issued with an arrest warrant for an
advertisement which was later withdrawn, the current Director Ravi Shastri
playing politics to bring in another leader in place of MS. When he lost 4 ODIs
in Australia all the senior cricketers, commentators and sports journalists
started to dump him down. People like Gavaskar and Srikanth who have done very
less to this country went to the extent of telling that MS must quit Cricket
itself, and he has already quit Test matches after having brought the nation to
the No 1 position. Some of the journalists are severely criticizing him in
their article very religiously.
No one
never rather even dreamt that MS would bounce back in Australia in 5th ODI and
clean sweep in T20 as 3-0. And now he has done the country proud by winning the
Asia Cup yet again – March 2016 – also ready to bring back the World ICC T20
cup 2016.
Again the shameless people have started to
appreciate and hail MS for his commendable leadership. People want to show pink
slip like IT companies for non-performance. The irony is MS never dwelled upon
his past glory and still wanting to fight, not showing any agony in his face or
action but only the right attitude of aligning with the team objectives and
playing only for victory and for the team. That is the USP of MS. He never
pushes himself forward when the team does well, he never hesitates to own
responsibility when the team fails. There can be only one DHONI. He is a
special character like the Haryana Hurricane – the great Kapil Dev sir. MS is a
rare breed born in 1981, July 7th and started from playing football.
He still has some excellent cricket left in him and he would perhaps win the
World Cup title yet again in the upcoming series. I appreciate the upcoming
star Virat Kohli – who is getting to take up the mantle from MS but not before
MS calls it a day by himself. It would be unfair to push or force him out of
the game when he is serving the country so well and still willing to serve.
My due Salutes to the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna and
Padma Shri – MS Dhoni for the good work. Let the country enjoy the good cricket
from him for at least for this year and he will surely show way to the next
leader on his own and he is very much aware that no one is a permanent in any
position. I wish the great man all success. Let the upcoming young leaders learn
all the positive characters from him. MS Jai Ho.
